What we do, and what we will not touch

Bon Ami Ltd is registered for other building completion and finishing (SIC 43390) and is registered at Faulkner House, West Street, Wimborne, Dorset.

Completion and finishing is the last set of trades into a room: plastering and skimming, dry lining, painting and decorating, second fix joinery, flooring and tiling, and the making good and snagging that should happen before anybody calls a job finished. It is the part a client looks at every day, and it is decided almost entirely by preparation.

Snagging is done properly here, which mostly means doing it at the right time. We walk the job with you in daylight, write the list down, and clear it before we leave rather than after you have paid and we are on another site.

Now the exclusions, which matter more than the list above. We do not carry out gas work: only a business registered with Gas Safe Register may work on gas fittings and appliances. We do not carry out electrical installation work, which in a dwelling is subject to Part P of the Building Regulations. We do not do structural work and we do not design.

We also do not disturb or remove asbestos. It is routine in buildings from before 2000, and sanding or drilling through it is the realistic risk in this trade. If we find anything we suspect, work stops and you are told.

Where a job needs a trade we are not, we will say so and tell you what registration or certification to ask that person for.
